I feel my reply under the subject "and another thing" was a bit strong, and for that I am sorry.
I was really only trying to make 2 points...

1) The MAME documentation only pertains to illegaly distributing roms with MAME. Of course they are still illegal to distribute alone, they just don't have anything to do with MAME in that case.

2) I don't think a CD of roms is any MORE illegal than a web-site providing ROMS. The law sees them both as illegal.

Okay, I have a third point, but this is my persoanl opinion: I don't feel distributing ROMS is immoral. Illegal yes, immoral, no. If he wants to take the risk, I don't really care.

I don't want to create hard feelings on this board, so once again I apologize for the aggressive post.

: I don't care if he's making money or not off these ROMS. That's not the point. Whether I care or not about piracy is also not the point.

: What I *DO* care about is one guy ruining it for everyone singlehandedly. Wake up. You think the ROM legaility debate is over? Not by a longshot. I suggest you talk to Dave at vintagegaming and ask him what it was like with all the legal hassle or what it was like to have your host remove your whole page because of their hassle with the lawsuits.

: Try thinking about the consequences of his actions before you defend him. I also suggest posting the question of whether or not it is a good idea to freely make all roms available on CD Rom to some of the other boards where developers and longtime followers frequent.

: Just ask once if someone will make all the roms available in 1 download and see what attacks you get.

: I don't care what Arcade2000 does until it affects me. This does. As long as he posts the roms are available on CD, which is highly frowned upon by the people who gave us MAME and the supporters themselves, you bet I'll attack his ignorant actions...

: : Your second statement about companies being miffed is also proof that you aren't concerned about piracy, only piracy as it affcts your access to ROMS. Get off your high horse buddy, you're not fooling anyone.

: :
: : : I just hate seeing people ruin a good thing, which is what you are doing. And my point to Arcade2000 about Ebay was, "you might as well be selling them" not that he was.

: : : Can you figure out why some companies are getting a little miffed about widespread distribution of their ROMS? People like this guy are promoting copyright infringement. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that what he is doing is illegal...
