Questions re: joysticks, overlays, controller spacing, marquee illumination, and Hagstrom 72-T

I am converting a Midway Shuffleboard cabinet into a
MAME system and wanted to toss out a few questions
before I wrap up my planning. I've surfed several
web sites looking for this information but won't be
bothered if you post an obvious link I may have
missed. ;-)

Joysticks:
I prefer the vintage look of ball-handle joysticks. I got
the Happ catalog and it doesn't look like they make any.
I do have a couple NOS Wico sticks that I picked up at
a surplus store several years back. Does anyone know
if I can swap one of these ball-handle Wico shafts into
a Happ Super joystick???

Also, does anyone have experience with the Wico 8-way
"positive detent feel" joystick (#15-372201)?

Same question regarding the Happ "Heavy Duty 8-way
Trigger Joystick" (#50-9970, page 156.) Looks like
it would work well for a Tron style control panel...

Overlays:
I will be making three or four swappable control panels.
I am looking for a generic black panel overlay which
of at least 15"x25". Anyone know of a good source for
something like this?

I could also settle for a Space Duel overlay for one
of my panels (if it would fit the dimensions.) Does
anyone have the dimensions of the Space Duel overlay
(or a guesstimate) and leads on who would have this
for sale?

Here's a long shot... Even better would be an overlay
printed with a blond woodgrain pattern (to match
the paneling under the decals on the sides of my cabinet.)
I'm not holding my breath on this one... but if someone
has a source or suggestions, please pass them along!

Controller spacing:
I have checked out the site with the archive of control
panel overlays and it was very useful. However,
I would also be interested in getting some hard data
regarding the dimensions of some of my favorite games.
Are there any sources for information like "how far
apart were the sticks on Crazy Climber", etc. What
would be the best newsgroup for this kind of crazy
question?

Wiring:
I am torn between Molex vs ribbon cable? Molex looks
more "pro", and since I will be swapping out several
panels I am concerned about durability. I can't
think of any strong pros or cons either way but
thought someone out there who has been through the
process might have some food for thought...

Flourescent vs. incandescent marquees:
Right now the marquee has 5 small lamps which provide
illumination. Many of the projects I have looked at
use a flourescent light for the marquee. Is there any
reason to stick with the original lamps or would I be
better off with substituting one of the small
stand-alone flourescent units?

Hagstrom 72-T:
I will be using the 72-T encoder as my interface. I
would appreciate any tips or tricks that other users of
this encoder might be able to pass along...

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

P.S. Oh, almost forgot: Is anyone interested in the "guts"
from my Midway Shuffleboard? I have all of the boards,
three schematics, the monitor, monitor manual, and dip
switch setting card. No control panel... that
was missing from the machine when it was given to me.
Perhaps you have some spare parts I could use in my
project... :-) This stuff is located in Northern
California. Please reply by e-mail if interested.
