I think an Amd Athlon is a better proccesor and it is a little cheaper then a Pentium III.
If you go for the Athlon make sure you find a good mainbord for it, check www.amd.com. (the asus k7v is the best on this moment).
For the video part of your pc you should look for a nVidia Geforce 2 Gts it is the best 3d card at the moment.
