Which OS to use?? (DOS version for HD performance)

Help
I just acquired a used 4.3 gig HD to replace my 540 HD.
I am using ARCADEOS with DOS 6.22. I believe this means that I can not have one large hard drive in 6.22. Should I go to WIN 95 DOS or stay where I am. If I go WIN 95, what is the procedure?
BTW, I do not plan on EVER actually using WIN 95 or 98 on this machine as it is my dedicated MAME machine.
