I see many of you are finally starting to discuss this subject. I had brought this up with a post here several months ago. When you spin too hard in MAME, things get jumpy and erratic and the direction of movement reverses. However, I think you will find that if you go to the Windows desktop to test mouse behavior, the mouse pointer does not go jumpy or reverse direction, no matter how fast you spin the dial. From this I conclude that the problem is in MAME's mouse code. Also, I should point out that Retrocade doesn't seem to suffer from the problem when you move the spinner too fast. However, a different problem exists in Retrocade where if you move the spinner too slowly, the movement doesn't register at all. I talked to the Retrocade author and he conceded that it is due to the way Retrocade handles mouse movement. He wasn't sure of the programming solution, however.
