I used to have an ATI Xpert@Play 98 on my old PC (now the cabinet computer - minus the ATI card) and it always worked in pure DOS (boot up)...unless they've changed the drivers so that it doesn't work anymore, I'm not sure why you're having the problem.

: Hi guys! I picked up a new ATI video card so I could try out the TV out. After finally getting it up and running (drivers are a pain in the @$$) it looks great. I tried it out on my 27" TV and Windows text isn't that great but MAME games and other emu's are awsome! Thing is while it works in Windows I use a frontend and boot straight into DOS. When I do this the screen just goes completely black. Does that mean the card won't work in pure DOS? Has anyone got around this? I could always boot into Windows and have it start the frontend but wanted to keep it in DOS so Windows wouldn't be a system hog. I'm running on a 233MMX with 64 megs of memory. Can't wait to put everything back together and slap a 25" tv in to the cabinet. I also have a Celeron 400 on the way, so maybe the Windows thing wouldn't be too bad. Anyways, if anyone has a solution to use a ATI card for TV out in pure DOS please post or drop by the chat room! Thanks for any info....
