Donkey Kong horizontal sync problem

Please excuse my ignorance, but I am a newbie at this.

I just found a Donkey Kong upright in a friends father's barn. Besides being covered with dust and bird crap, it was in pretty good shape. He said I could have it for nothing (sweet!), so I quickly took it home. After a quick clean up, I plugged it in and turned it on. Everything worked and looked great, except that the horizontal sync on the monitor is messed up. Every 5-10 seconds, the picture "rolls" horizontally. It is almost like a flicker, but it is definitely in the horizontal direction.

I'm going to need to open the back, but unfortunately I will have to jimmy the lock because I don't have the key. Does anyone know if the monitor has a "horzontal hold" control, or do I have to do something more technical than that?
