controller enclosures -- build from scratch or buy pre-made?

For my first project, I've decided to build a small controller that houses a Wico leaf-switch joystick with two buttons on either side. I already have an ArcadePC with HotRodSE controller connected to my PS2 port. I plan on connecting the Wico and buttons to an I-PAC and then interfacing it through the USB port. Then, I'll just sit the Wico controller on the pull-out tray of my ArcadePC when I'm using it, and store it in the cabinet next to my computer, when I'm not. I came up with the idea because my friends complain that the 8-way joysticks on the HotRod don't work to well with the games that only need 4 directions (and yes, I've tried flipping the actuator).

Anyway, my question is what should I use for an enclosure? I saw some pre-made project boxes at Radio Shack, but I'm not sure if they'll do the job or not. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan
