Well, my handle is saint, but I make no claims to
any level of cleanliness :) Never been accused of
being a nun before, but a few other things yes.

There's only one reason I'll delete a message, and
that's when it starts to cross the line from a
friendly tone to a hostile one. I made the decision
to leave the numerous threads about Arcade2000 because
it seemed that it would help those folks involved
either resolve the issue or discover that they had
something in common and network with one another in
case they saw the need to persue other avenues of
restitution.

Your note however, while not exceedingly hostile,
was the kind of open door that would have degenerated
in my opinion into a nasty discussion. I've seen
too many message boards die because of things like
that. If I had felt strongly about what you had
written, I would have posted a public statement --
I didn't really find it all that terrible, but felt
it was going to lead to unpleasantness that was
counter-productive to the community feeling we have
on this board.

I should have posted a message to you personally via
email explaining why I nuked it but it was very late
and I was sloppy...

I don't at all mind somewhat off-topic threads other
than arcade control related -- we are after all a
community, I think -- but it has to stay on the
friendly side. So long as sooner or later we steer
it back around to the topic on hand, I'm all for the
banter and camaraderie...

One of the greatest strengths of the internet and
this board is the meeting of the minds of people with
different points of view... I can easily see how my
deleting your message might seem heavy handed --
quite possibly it might not have degenerated into
something nasty. However, when in doubt I chose
to err on the side of caution. I respect and value
your and everyone else's opinion. However, when
you take part on this message board, it's a bit like
you're entering my house. In this case, in that regard,
I'm asking that you please respect my opinion as well...
If I'm a bit heavy handed once in a while in an
effort to keep things as smooth and as informationally
valuable as possible, then I apologize for any toes
I step on but ask that you consider that in the long run it
preserves the value that this forum has. I think that
you'll find there are far fewer moderations on this
board than most others.

I'm asking that this thread die without further
responses unless you feel strongly about it. I'll
leave this thread up in it's entirety for a day or
so then I'll remove it.

Thanks!

--- saint
