HELP! I'VE BEEN UP ALL NIGHT. How do I figure out what wires on vga cable go to which pin?

Nobody explained how they did this. I have my cut vga cable and now I have a 15-pin connector at one end and wires at the other. How do I figure out which wires go with which pins. The only thing I can figure out is if I knew what color wire went with what pin #. There is no way to trace the wires to the pins without destroying the wire completely. I don't really want to do that. SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!
