This is off-topic of the subject of "BYOAC", but since I value the opinions of the fine folks here... :)
I've been toying with the idea of getting a DVD player for the TV, but I had another idea: I was thinking about getting a PC (like a 500 MHz Celeron eMachine or the like) with a DVD player in it, and then also purchasing an ATI Expert 98 card and sending the S-Video signal out from the ATI to the TV. The upshot would be that I would also be able to web surf, etc (I'll have a network connection to that PC) from my easy chair! Can anyone tell me if there's an obvious reason why I SHOULDN'T do this? Does anyone know how DVD playback looks when using S-Video out from an ATI Expert 98 to a TV? Is there another video card that would suit this venture better? Thanks ahead of time for the input!
