Trackball/Spinner switch

I know I can't have a trackball and spinner running at the same time due to data corruption. I've heard you guys talking about using a switch to select either device.

Do I need to switch all 4 wires for each device using some sort of relay or should I just switch the +5VDC on/off for each device (2 switches)?
