Spinner Help !!

I have built a spinner using the guts of a mouse, it works great, but with one problem !

I could only have the shaft of the spinner coming from the bottom of the mouse PCB rather than the top, this means that when I turn my spinner knob left the movement on the screen goes to the right and visa versa.

Is there any way to reverse this with software, mame etc.... ?
