When I first started burning CD's I ran into the problem chris mentioned. Files I copied off the CD were always read-only and often programs wouldn't work or act quirky because of this.

Then I discovered something interesting:
If the files were not read-only before you put them on the CD, they will not REALLY be read-only afterwards. Looking at the CD under windows shows all the files as read-only, but under DOS they will not be (providing they weren't before the burn). So what is going on here is windows knows the CD is a read-only device and automatically will CHANGE any file you copy off of it to have the read-only attribute. If you copy under DOS there is no attribute added. Weird.
:P

: I've done the same thing, but the settings are persistant. I believe they are stored in the mame.cfg file. Mine was read only after copying it from a CD and I had to change the attributes.

: Good luck

: : When I remap keys in MAME under Input(general)its not keeping the keys I've mapped. I'm remapping the credit key back to 3 so I don't have to wire it dif in my keyboard hack. Is there anyway to make this stick?

: : Thanks in advance... :)
