In Reply to: Questions about the Wells-Gardner U3100 Monitor posted by Mike on July 12, 1999 at 20:11:58:

1.Are the resolutions available (VGA: 640 x 200, 640 x 350, 640 x 480, SVGA: 800 x
600, 1024 x 768 (interlaced)) enough to make all horizontal and vertical games in
Mame look authentic.

>> It depends on the orientation. I use mine vertically with a video card (ATI)
which dosen't seem to have an interlaced 1024x768 mode. But mounted
horizontally, yes. At least for the games I have ;)

2.Is it possible to get other resolutions to work such as 400x300 and 320x240 ect.

>> I've seen other resolutions on the monitor, but they don't fill the whold screen.

3.Does the monitor plug straight into the PC the same as a normal PC monitor
would.

>> It plugs right into the PC. No wires to mess with.

4.Can the Monitor be easily mounted in both horizontal and vertical positions.

>> Yes, there are mounting brackets which can be unscrewed and relocated either
vertically or horizontally.

5.Happ Controls do a similar own brand monitor which I believe is only VGA, but
much cheaper. As most emulated games only use a vga resolution, is their any
other reason to choose the Wells-Gardner Monitor.

>> I don't know this, I haven't seen it. But for many of the games, you will need at
least 800x600 to fill the screen (for them to be doubled and have authentic
scanlines.)

I hope this helps. I am *very* happy with mine and its realistic look.

Bob
