Well I have hooked my arcade monitor to my PC. You can see how I did it in the monitor section of my site.... linked below.

Basically.... Arcade monitors use a different frequency than a PC monitor. So you don't really want an regualar PC signal going to the monitor. I use ArcadeOS as a front end to mame. It will send a signal to the monitor that it can understand. So ya leave the monitor off till arcadeos starts... then it is sending the correct signal so you can turn on your monitor.

Some people think that it can harm the monitor if you send a PC type signal to the arcade monitor (other don't) I don't think that its gunna be REALLY harmfull... but its a good idea to try not to do it.

As for power.... MOST monitors use 120V AC power that comes outta the wall.... but it needs to go thru a isolation transformer first.

Its not really that hard to do.... It can be dangerous.... monitors can hold quite a charge.

Check out my site.... and if you have questions feel free to mail me.

: I've got just about all the parts to begin building my MAME machine, and I've decided to use the arcade monitor in this cocktail cabinet. But hearing so much gab about arcade monitors makes me very worried about doing it. I don't want to blow anything up. Has anyone written up a complete walkthrough on how to utilize an arcade monitor for use with a PC? I understand one would need to create their own interface wire using a 15 pin cable, but what's all the hub-bub about power issues, and waiting till ArcadeOS does this, does that, changes scan rates?? etc etc?? what's the reason for that? that stuff is all greek to me. I want to do this project and I've got a time table as well (yeesh), but I certainly don't want to blow up the monitor or the PC. I've seen so many people talking about rigging arcade monitors to PC, so SOMEONE out there must know how to do it correctly for sure and know it will work right. Has anyone written up a comprehensive walkthrough? Who's the authority on this subject? Thanks!
