Noticed your using pc2jamma, so I guess your connecting to a fingerboard, if so all I do is connect r,g,b - ground r,g,b grounds to video ground on the finger board and connect video ground on the finger board to any far edge ground on the finger board, tie hsync&vsync together and connect to video sync on the finger board.
That works for me.
