Hi Chazz,
How about purchasing a used steering wheel that used an optical encoder/spinner-like interface. I bought an old Pole Position control panel (others like the Sprint series and Turbo also use this method). I plan to place my Wingman Warrior's spinner sensors where the old ones were (I already did this w/my Tron spinner and it works great).
