Keep in mind that a real arcade monitor cannot handle standard vga/svga frequencies. You must either
1) use a scanconverter or tv out on card to change it to ntsc type frequencies. This will allow you to use windows and any front end you want but results in a crappy picture in my opinion.
or
2) connect the vga card directly to the monitor(like in previous post) and use a frontend that supports an arcade monitor, along with the -monitor arcade switch in mame. This is what I did. I use arcadeOS a dos only frontend that works with an arcade monitor. It automatically uses the arcade switch for mame if you tell it that you are using an arcade monitor. The picture is great. It looks just like a real arcade game. Hope that clarifies things a bit. :)
Clear as mud right? heh
: Well I am not totally sure if you do a real pc2jamma conversion... I just cut the end off of a standard vga connector and soldered the correct wires from the cable that went to the monitor.
: you need r,g,b,grnd, vsync, hsync. Go here to see...

: Then just send a signal that is arcade compatable and WOOWOO!!! it works... at least it did for me.
: You might have to fiddle with the v-hold and h-hold but it should work.

: Hope that helps some anyway.
: : upon hunting around on the net, i read about someone using a VGA-RGB cable w/ 5 BNC(coaxial) connectors to hook up there monitor. So is it safe to say you could plug one end into computer, and the other end to the arcade monitor and run Mame w/ the -ntsc option.(providing you didnt use the fingerboard method and went straight from the computer to the monitor.)I am using a Voodoo3
: : 3000 AGP w/tv-out.Do you know if this is an ideal card? Thanks for your time.
