I haven't personally seen any really good pinball games in MAME, but then again, I don't remember any video pinball games in the arcade that were very memorable. However, I think I am going to implement the buttons on each side of the cabinet for the pinball games, because of the ease of it and the fact that it will only cost about $3 in parts :) I actually thought of another idea for the pinball games, but I assume it would encourage abusing your machine somewhat. You could map the tilt switch on the inside of the coin door to the 'nudge' button on your pinball game, so that when you bumped the machine, it would 'bump' the on-screen pinball machine as well. I guess if you set it fairly sensitive, you wouldn't have to cave your coin door in to get the effect...just a thought, though...
