I've been thinking long and hard about building my own mame cabinet. Problem was the availability of a cabinet here in the Netherlands. I started thinking of building a cabinet from scratch but recently i found someone who has several cabinets and i can get one from him.

For the interface i'm gonna use a hagstrom encoder, seems to be the best way to go. I'm not really sure what to use for display though. I want to be able to run windows on the cabinet. I've done quite a lot of research but I'm still not sure what to use.

Easiest way to go would be to put a pc monitor in the cab. However i may be able to get an arcade monitor from the guy too. I read on several pages the WG U3100 arcade monitor can display vga screens. Is this in fact the case and does it work well ? Also is this a type of monitor that's standard in any kind of cabinet ? As I said he has several different cabinets, maybe one of them has a WG U3100 in it already. Another option would be to put a television in the cabinet and use a gfx card with tv out.

I may even go for a small monitor for windows and a bigger screen for mame, i can get a sega cabinet which has room for the small and big monitor.

Well I hope to hear from people who are using a WG U3100 monitor, but i'll probably just go for a standard pc monitor to start with.
