Any serial port(kbd,com) is slower than parallel ports, but with "slow" the average KBD is able to produce 1000 keypresses/sec. I dont think that any faster response is necessary.

: I presume the keyboard is the slowest because it works by having a set of "drive lines" and "sense lines". Each drive line is drivin, one at a time and the sense lines monitored. This gives the commonly known keyboard matrix.
: Parallel ports are faster than serial ports because they can send/recieve 8 bits (1 byte) at the same time where a serial port does them 1 by 1.
: I'm not sure by I suppose a game card and soundcard game port would be around the same speed (I use a game port for my arcade controls and they respond very well).
