This is the way im setup and how I did it.

I Use a true jamma cab without any mods using a true 25" horizontal arcade monitor.

I bought some Jamma fingerboards which connects into the jamma connector on the machine.

I Cut a vga cable of an old knackered monitor.

And I cut a stereo 3.5mm speaker cable from a set of old headphones.

and finally I bought a I-PAC from Andy (www.spaceinvaders.uk.com)

and you need some wire.
Parts:
1 x Jamma Finger Board (you can get one from www.arcadewarehouse.com)
1 x VGA Cable (Cut off at the monitor end)
1 x 3.5mm Stereo cable (to go from soundcard out)
1 x I-PAC (from www.spaceinvaders.uk.com)
Wire.

The jamma pinouts are on this page :

http://users.evitech.fi/~arttuiy/arcade/jamma/index.html

A Jamma finger board looks kind of like this :

---------------------------------------
| O1 O3 O5 O7 O9 O11 O13 O15 O17 O |
| |
| O2 O4 O6 O8 O10 O12 O14 O16 O18 |
| |
| |
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|_|

This is not a true representation as the actually jamma board has 28 pins, it is also double sided, one side is known as the parts side and the other solder side, this is normally marked on your jamma connector inside the machine.

The O's Represent solder points for the correct pin.

When ever I refer to connecting to pin x on the jamma fingerboard, I mean literally soldering the wire to the correct input pin on the finger board.

Audio
-----

1. Connect the audio left cable from the speaker wire (normally red) to pin 10 parts side on the jamma finger board.

2. Connect the audio right cable from the speaker wire (normally white or black) to pin 11 parts side on the jamma finger board.

3. Connect the wires shielding (ground) to pin 10 solder side on the jamma finger board.

4. Connect a small wire from pin 10 solder side to pin 11 solder side on the jamma board.

Thats the audio done, some people like to use an audio amp, personally I dont see the need, you can turn your volume up through your audio software in dos and through mame. Mine runs very nicely without an amp :)

Connect up the cable to the jamma finger board as follows.

Pin 1 on the vga cable to pin 12 parts side on the jamma finger board. (Video Red)

Pin 2 on the vga cable to pin 12 solder side on the jamma finger board. (Video Green)

Pin 3 on the vga cable to pin 13 parts side on the jamma finger board. (Video Blue)

Pins 6,7,8 & 10 on the vga cable to pin 14 parts side on the jamma finger board. (Video Grounds)

Ignore Pin 11

Now tie the two wires from pins 13 & 14 on the vga cable together and solder to pin 13 solder side on the jamma finger board (Video Sync)

Thats the Video done!

Finally The Controls
--------------------

This is the totally easy bit.

1. Buy the I-PAC from www.spaceinvaders.uk.com
2. Screw a wire (about 1 foot length will do it) into each of the outputs on the I-PAC you want to use, they are all marked on the I-PAX eg. 1 Player start, 2 Player start etc.
3. Solder that wire to the right pin on the jamma finger board.

Remember you can check the pins by looking at the jamma finger board picture at http://users.evitech.fi/~arttuiy/arcade/jamma/index.html

eg. you would stick a wire in the 1 player start output on the I-PAC and solder it to pin 17 parts side on the jamma finger board.

The I-PAC has a cable which plugs into it and then plugs into your keyboard connector and another socket for plugging your keyboard into if you want to use it at the same time (I dont bother, I dont have a keyboard connected at all)

Thats about it!

Plug your vga cable in to your graphics card.
Plug your 3.5mm sound cable into your soundcard output.
Plug the I-PAC into the pc via the keyboard cable included with it.

Plug the Jamma fingerboard into the jamma slot in your cabinet.

Load arcadeos and mame on your pc, remembering to set the incabinet=1 setting in arcadeos.cfg if you are using an arcade monitor.

Couple of notes.

I-PAC dosnt need a keyboard plugged into it.
Cabinet does not need modifying.
No Electronics knowledge needed.

Also the I-PAC is already set up with all the standard mame/arcadeos keys. Ie as soon as you connect it too the jamma finger board it will work.

Hope that helps.
