I did the same as you want too, I bought a cab and didnt want to modify it at all.
The connections of the sound & video are easy, and solutions for them are found on http://users.evitech.fi/~arttuiy/arcade/jamma/index.html as said before, These are the best set for sound I have seen (ie you end up with stereo)......

I built the keyboard and joystick hacks and had lots of problems as they are over complicated and not designed for the job, I was even going to buy from hagstrom.
The link above is perfect, the IPAC unit on Andy's page was designed specifcly for a mame cabinet and is a great deal cheaper than any other solutions.
