Never heard of this, however here is an idea:
It may be that even though MAME32 has started and is fullscreen, Windows may not think it is the current window. By clicking you are effectively making it current and then your keystrokes are recognized by MAME32. Try shutting down all other applications, even ones on the System tray before launching MAME32 and see if it makes a difference.

: When I get to the license screen (press any key, or OK) I can not get it to advance to the next screen with any button. First I have to click the moue button, then press any key to get it to start. Anybody else experience this or know of a fix?
