Converting Playstation Joysticks

Hi,

Has anybody experience with "altering" playstation joy's? I'm thinking on buying an playstation joy and a psx <-> USB converter. The joystick shell isn't that great, so I might end up converting it to a custom panel.

Can you give me some info on your experiences with playstation joys on pc's?
