There have been many people that printed these on Inkjet printers and then pieced them together.
If you want another solution you can take it to a print shop that has a large scale inkjet (line an Encad Novajet). They are 36" and 48" wide and are fed with rolls of paper. They can print on photoquality paper, transparency, back-lit sign material, sticker paper, etc.
If you can't find a local source - I can recommend one here. (Columbus Ohio). American Color Scans. They have printed a marquee and sticker for me - the marquee was $16.00. It was printed on backlit sign material and looks wonderful!

: Latest news on the cab project: Gor the control panel off, and am proceeding to de-goo the control panel. Ordered a 4-way joystick and some stuff from Video Connection. Am setting up ArcadeOS to run on my old P-120. Too fun!
