I appeared to have answered my own question this morning. It is probably not feasible to overcome the design flaws in an "all-in-one".
I simply liked the idea of having no pc cards jammed into the motherboard. Memory would be OK (because they are 1/3 height cards anyway.)
The reason it is probably not possible is that I, like many others, want to graft a TV set into my machine for a monitor (for the same
reasons as LuSiD points out, cost, size, etc.). In order to achieve this bit of trickery, I must have a ATi chipset in the "Rage Fury /
Rage Fury Pro" class. There aren't any boards that I know of that have this class video card embedded in their chassis. Because of the
Rage Fury, I must use Win '98 (or '95b). Since I'm forced to use a "fat" OS, I may as well go full tilt boogie and add a DVD player to
the list of goodies, as the Rage Pro puts out level 2 DVD Decoding. Now the box will be mondo more interesting, albeit more expen$ive.

Thanks for your responses, all.

Game ON!
