: If you didn't find them at Home Depot or Lowes - you should go back and ask them. I have bought carriage bolts at both places. I am 100% positive that they carry them.

: One problem with the bolts you buy at any hardware store, Farm & Fleet included, is that there is some raised letters on the head of the bolt. I would much rather a smooth head on the bolt. If anyone has a source for these, let me know.

The raised letters are code for how hardened the bolt is. Most places carry hardened and unhardened bolts, unhardened having smooth tops.

: : I've looked all over but I cannot find any in my local hardware chain stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc). Do any national guys carry small carriage bolts (they all have tons of 15 inch ones for building decks). Thanks...

: : BTW, the only reason I do not want to get them from Happs is because you have to order $45 worth (I only need 20 of the things).
