: Has anyone tried making a Linux (or FreeBSD or whatever?) based stand-alone mame machine? I'm planning on making one, but I'm still working out quite how I'm going to handle the control inputs. I'd be very interested in knowing if anyone has gotten the Happ Controls USB interface working with the 2.3.x USB support. If it has, this might make for a very fast, small, networkable mame box...

I have started building a cabinet, and I will most likely use Linux and XMame, mainly because I can fix things when they go wrong in Linux, but my record with DOS and Windows it much more shakey. I will say that I will be very tempted to try out the arcade@home frontend under DOS though. It looks very nice. I plan on controlling it with a keyboard interface for now. The USB stuff sounds like it might be interesting in the future.

Right now I am waiting for the weather to warm back up (and to get some free time) so that I can start putting together and finishing the cabinet.
