Shawn,
I have a PC, monitor and amplified speakers in my cabinet and do not have a heat problem. My computer is a Celeron 466 and the case is on. I used a thermometer to make sure there was not a heat problem - just to be safe. I would do the same if I were you.
Others that have made MAME cabs have installed vents and fans. So, YMMV.
: Not a newcomer to the site, but this is the first post I've made:
: I'm getting ready to start design of a cabinet (didn't want to drop the money on a monitor but Lusid's posts have swayed me towards a nice TV) and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions about venting your cabinet, especially for computers with faster chips. Do you even use a computer case? Leave the back open? Vent slits in the side? I'm really curious about people that have been running a cab for a while with a fast processor and how it has held up to the heat.
: Thanks,
: Shawn
