Yeah, I did the same thing! Man was I ticked at myself too!
It sounds like you might've crossed one of the leads that carries voltage for the Num Lock, Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock lights with one of the other leads. Try doing what Jim suggested: use a multimeter to see what goes where BEFORE pluggin it into your PC.
