the standard method is to buy a cheap playstation
gamepad and solder the wires from your arcade buttons to the button contacts on the gamepad. the sony brand gamepads are usually not good for this purpose. the cheap kind seem to work best.
this same method can be used for most systems.
the only problem people run into is interfacing
analog controls like a couple of buttons on the dreamcast.
