: I was thinking about spray painting a 2" border around the plexiglass. I have Plasticote spray paints... will this work well on plastic? Will I need a clear coat?

I used Krylon spray Paints. I cut out of a sheet of poster board, the size and shape of the viewable area of the monitor, less 1/2" around, for the tape (see next paragraph), leaving bare the outside edge of the plexiglass that will be painted.

To clarify, when placed down on the plexi, all you see is the plexi area that will be painted.

Then I took painter's tape, and taped the cutout to the plexi, a straight line around the cutout, (this is why I accounted for the extra 1/2" on all sides), and even put 4 pieces of tape at 45 degree angles at the corners, for a neat effect (see the pic on my website, photos page, of the finished product).

Then I used the blue krylon, first coat was my primer, after 1 hour, second coat, then 1 hour later, last coat. Krylon drys in 20 minutes, but I gave ot the extra time for good measure.

Hope that helps!
