Gamepadpro Grip in DOS

I cannot for the life of me get the Grip drivers to load in DOS. It says buttons held low. I do not think thier is any conflict. I run in DOS 5.0 and Arcadeos.
I want to hack two gamepad pro pads for use in a new cabinet I am building for a friend.
