: Just curious, have you ever used that 7th button? Most people put 6 on their control panel. I'm in the process of designing mine (3 player - 6 buttons each) so maybe you can keep me from messing up...

: I use 8 buttons to each stick. Reason? Bleem! X, triangle, square, circle, and L1 R1, L2 R2. The first 4 are in the traditional playstation diamond shape, the other 4 are in a square config.

: As for the labeling, I traced the panel out, and had clear plastic overlays made up. They are labeled for the different configurations. Basically I only needed about 12.

: 5 for different types of MAME games
: 2 for Bleem!
: the rest for other emus, like Stella, Zsnes, etc.

: They just sit on top of the panel, all the buttonholes are cut out, as is the square panel for the trackball, and larger circle for the spinner. When you remove the overlay, the panel is undamaged. Also helps when my son plays. He eats and drinks at the machine.

: Hope that helps.

My cab only has MAME, but overlays were another way I was thinking of going. It seems like there would have to be way more than 5 for MAME, though!

Where would you have clear plastic overlays like that made up, and what did they run you for each? Also, are they fastened on in any way, or do they just lay on top? I would worry that they would jump around a little during heavy game play.....
