Welp, seing as how lusid wont be answering any time this week (vacations and all that) I'll step in and pour out my knowledge :)

Basically, lusid and myself ran TV out tests with practically all major vga cards out there, except fro geForce based ones, as that was way to expensive for the projects. I mean, we REALLY tested them out. Voodoo cards have serious issues with low res outputs, like most of the customized MAME ones are, so this kinda kill's it. Also 3dfx showed no help whatsoever in this regard, so scratch them. Matrox (G400 32MB) is a great windows card, but turning on the TV out showed severall disapointments. I mean, if you use the DVD player bundled to watch a movie, it looks awesome. If you turn on the DOS TV-Out mode for windows and DOS, it worked initially just fine, except that no amount of tuning could get the picture looking decent, let alone good. The TNT based cards suffered from quality issues as well, workintg fine in MAME, but just not looking that good.

Here's where ATI definitly has a huge leg up on the rest. The TV out of their cards is superb. VERy clean and crips. I mean, a TV is a very low res device, thats why all cards only do low res on it, but the ATI was the cleanest and best color saturated by far. Hence the Fury 128. it has a moderatly fast 3D engine, excellent TV out. So you can play mame, and an ocasional bout of Need for Speed or any of the 3D arcade games emulated, etc. Bets of both worlds really.

Hope this helps ya decide.

> I am starting to plan my next cabinet and at this time the P.C. to T.V. is looking pretty good. I have been reading the posts regarding this topic but I haven't gotten any solid answers. Do all of the cards make windows look like crap on the T.V. ? are the games scaled differently? What are the differences between the ATI and VooDoo cards? What are the drawbacks to this? I have seen lots of positive posts, but I want to know what is bad with this method before I shell out $$$ and realize that it doesn't work for me. Oh LuSiD, if you read this, where did you find the primal rage game. What company makes it? I saw your page and am i mistaken or did I really see a credit screen on it unlike a " press start " line? LMK guys
