Hope he sent you those pics.
I was there for both of the TV gutting expeditions.

We didn't discharge the tube, and we didn't disconnect anything. We just carefully removed the guts & tube from the plastic shell & mounted them into the cabinet intact. Since we didn't disconnect the big red cable from the flyback there was no need to discharge the tube. Just don't touch that cable & don't touch the under side of the PCB, esp in the HV area.

This is not something you want to do by yourself. It is a 2 person job. Having a 3rd set of hands would make it even easier.
Be careful & you'll probobly live. If you're realy careful, so will the TV =)

: I sure would like to see those pics.
: e-mail them to pbbock@shore.intercom.net
: Thanks.

: Its a 24" cab. About 23 7/8" inside measurement. Used to be Track and Field.
: BTW, did you discharge the tube beforehand? How much did you disconnect before you moved the tube.
: I've read a bunch of instructions concerning this on the net and want to make sure I do this right.
: Thanks

: : Hey dude. I indeed have done it. Twice actually. Once for TheQleaners cab, and then for mine. What it is is a 2 person job to make it really safe.

: : Now, what I did. I went to Home Depot and got a 2X2 beam. I know it's 8 feet long, but it was only a buck. Next, I measured the distance between the mounting posts on the screen itself after I opened it up and pulled it out of the plastic shell. That distane is what I used to mount some small blocks I cut off the 2x2 into the monitor area on the cab. How wide is your cab? how wide is your screen? you might need to use some bigger wood, cause my cab is 2 feet wide, and I got a 27" RCA, like Lusid's only a tad bigger, and it fit exactly. You might need to buy a 2x4 for example, but it's the same idea. once the mounting blocks are in place, then you and a person pick up the screen and the electronics, carry it over, and put it in. The stronger of the 2 should hold the tube in place while the other guy does a small hole in each mounting corner, and then screws in at least the top 2 bolts. Then you can let go an put in the bottom 2. The electronics for my case just sit on a shelf. If you want, give me an email to send them to, and I'll toss over some pics of what I'm talking about. I just havent been able to get myweb page done yet. But once you see the pics, you'll understand what ahm talking about.

: : : I'd like to put a 25" tv in the cab I'm bulding. The tv is a zenith with s-video and it works great with my ati rage fury card, however it's a little too wide for the cab in its shell. I saw a message a while back about someone who took the innards only and put it in a cabinet. If someone has done this I'm sure looking for a little advice and direction. Thank you.
