i went with the wg u3100 and have no regrets.
it is great if you want to make a rotating monitor design. also like they said you don't have to mess with any s-video or special expensive video cards. the u3100 makes games look great because it has built in scanlines just like real arcade monitors. $400 really isn't bad when you look at the price for a decent 19" pc monitor. good luck which ever route you go.
