We seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot here Jim, you were asking a simple question and all you wanted was a simple answer: Instead I chose to have a bitch at you and I shouldn't have, so please accept my apology for that.
All I really needed to say was that I have tried to make them work many times without luck and it seems that there are at least a few people who have had the same experence.
So I guess the lesson you can take from all this is
1) diodes don't seem to help all that much
2) Matt is a rude bastard :-)
