: I have a friend that has a cd burner, but he doesn't play MAME. And I use an iMac so a burner would cost a ton.

Totally offhand, but has anyone else noticed how well the mac version of MAME is coded? We did a comparison, a Dell 450 vs a beige G3 300.. on the G3 the worst reduction we saw on the newest game we could find for mame was frameskip 2.. amazing..unfortunately, it wouldnt be quite cost effective to pick up a G3 for a mame cabinet..:/

On the note of rewritable media for your imac, you might want to consider using a Superdrive, Zip, Orb or something similar if you are looking for a lower cost method of storing your ROMs.. all of those can be purchased for under $150... and I'm sure you can find an offbrand CDR for about that.. as long as the drive can connect to your mac, chance are the drivers are out there.. www.xlr8yourmac.com has had some recent articles about cd burners for the new systems..

Hope that helps!
