Help me please! I finally received my $4 trackballs (after 3+ months of waiting)...

I did 3 mouse hacks, broke one of the 2 trackballs, and can't make it to work. I still have one left, and I don't want to screw it again. Please, help me! Jerky, if you're reading this, give me a tip! :)

I don't know if the trackball can be connected directly to the serial port using a custom adaptor, or if I have to hack the optical readers and use a mouse to read them (that's what I've tried)..
