This email was sent to me but I haven't had a chance
to do much work past few days on the FAQ... BTW -
I'm about 100 messages behind on email if you've
sent me some :)

My very next thing that I do project wise on the FAQ
will include the I-PAC. I've got holes drilled in the wood right now
and just bought a Dremel tool, so it shouldn't be too long...

=============

Just dropping you a mail about the IPAC keyboard
interface unit....

I built my first MAME cabinet just over a year ago. I
used a 'hacked' keyboard to interface the controls to
my cabinet. Although I have experimented with three
different keyboards I was never quite happy with this
method. Occasionally during 'hairy' moments when
playing Defender the controls would not repsond.

I heard about the IPAC unit on the UKVAC (UK Video
Arcade Collectors) mailing list. I ordered one pretty
sharpish and it arrived in a couple of days.
Installing the unit was a doddle, it was just a case
of wiring the keys to the new unit and plugging it in.
My wiring was improved as I now only needed a single
wire going to each key with a common ground.

I have been using the unit for a few weeks now and
have no problems. The unit is perfect for MAME with
all the keys configured by default. I particullary
like the way holding 'P1 Start' + other keys gives the
appropriate key depression for other key MAME
commands.

I have since bought another IPAC unit ready to put
into my next cabinet which I am just beginning to
build.

: I've spoke to Andy (might be slighty biased cause of the name, hehe nah!) he seems a really nice bloke.. I think Brian Lewis from PC2Jamma got one from Andy, and said only good things about it, also its cheapness and easyness to get to run..

: I wish Andy all the best in his plans.
