Hey, I figured you guys might know something about this or a site that could help me out.

I was wondering how hard it was to hack the dc joystick, I opened an offbrand joypad up and its not nearly as friendly to muck around with as PC joysticks, in fact it was really compact and very crowded. Also I believe that the dreamcast can tell the differnece between a normal joypad and a fighting stick. How does the dreamcast know? Is it possible to fool it into thinking a normal pad is a fighting stick so you could save some money by hacking cheap pads & still get good software support?

Also, how do you go about converting from NTSC & the dreamcast's VGA out too the RGB of an Arcade Monitor? (I know the VGA part is probably covered on the site, is it any different than the vga sent out by a computer. Will the DC ouput at a refresh rate the arcade monitor will not be able to handle?)

Any ideas/help/suggestions/link sincerly appreciated. Thanks a heap.
