I have a router, but I couldn't find the 1/16" slot cutting bit anywhere around here. I did find it at some of the sites that were mentioned in some threads below, but it would cost me $30 just for a router bit! I'd like to avoid that if I can since I'm not planning on using the slot cutter more than once or twice. If I was going to use it a lot, then maybe I'd buy it. Anyway, like i said, I've got a router and 1/8" straight bit that I'm going to use. I'm going to build a jig up from scrap wood that will fasten to the bottom of the router and also have two boards that go on each side of the board that I'm cutting. This will provide a nice guide when I'm cutting. It should work ok, but like Andy mentioned before, I'm going to practice, practice, practice, before I ruin a nice panel. Also do make sure you wear safety glasses like Andy suggested. I've been working on my new panel and I've been wearing safety glasses while routering and I've STILL gotten a little dust in my eyes, so I can imagine how bad it would've been if I hadn't been wearing them. Also another little tip. Wear ear plugs. :) I tried routering for just a little bit without them and I almost went deaf. Those things are really loud! So that's it. Like I said, I haven't cut my grooves yet, but I'm almost ready..as soon as i make my jig. I'll let you know how it goes when I'm done. Good luck!

Game on!! Brian

: Whats the proper way to cut an even groove in wood for T-molding to fit in?

: I am very new and I don't know what to do here, like what tool to use and how to get a flush fit.

: Can someone give me some advice?

: Thanks
