For comparison, when I had MAME installed on a P90 the only games that were playable were frogger, ms.pacman, and dig dug. But, if you can get your hands on a copy of Williams Arcade Classics all of those will run fine. They were coded to run well on a slow system. You might also try some old mame builds, because long ago I was playing other games on a 486. Try v.21, I seem to remember that one being pretty good. Or maybe I was just excited to see Zaxxon added, it's been a while. Hive might also be an option if it supports 486 class CPUs.

Just don't expect too much & start saving for that upgrade.

: 1. How well does MAME run on a 486-120? Will be getting a free motherboard, processor, RAM (32MB), hard drive, and ET4000 2MB VLB Video Card in a few weeks. Would like to use this as a start for a computer in the cabinet, but am not sure how games will run on such a machine...plan on upgrading it to a K6-2 400, but that won't be for a while.

: 2. Am thinking of using the SNESpad wiring for controls (no worry about ghosting, don't have to spend any money since I got the parts here, etc). Good idea? ...or not?

: Thanks,

: Dennis
