Me & NightStrm (nathan) have been talking on IRC & our panels will be almost the same component wise. We are both using super 8s (boy they are neat, I like em already even though they arent mounted in anything but a cardboard box, they are crisp)with buttons from happs & we are both looking for ways to handle all the inputs well, but he has fewer inputs and more options because:

his joysticks all have 3 action buttons. 2 of mine have 6 buttons and the other 2 have 4 buttons (designed in case AD&D TOD gets emulated :)

also he has one less emulator control key

I plan on having 6 emulator control keys

pause, volume, enter, tab, reset, esc

He either ditched the volume key (we talked about this earlier) or he has enter as one of the buttons (prolly the left most player 1 button) and he uses that for selection on menus. We both want to use the first player controllers as the arrow keys so we can use them to select options in mame. We are also considering using a html & maby dhtml front end for our commonly played games & shelling arcade @ home for the less commonly played ones...

also check this out, rought draft of specs for cabinet control
