Thank you for the suggestions. I know the power supply is not the problem, I've tried it in several outlets. I believe the problem is software also, and I remember reading somewhere in like a readme file about the QuickShot6 driver that "if you experience difficulties using this driver, contact ..." they made it sound like you should EXPECT problems using the driver! Funny thing...today, I turn on my computer, and the joystick LED is lit just fine...and the joystick actually had some "return to center" force on it, so it seemed like it might actually work. I went into GAME CONTROLLERS and ADDED the joystick, and sure enough it said OK instead of NOT CONNECTED. So I went to the test mode, etc, and it was all fine! I played a game of Midtown Madness and it worked perfect. I turned off the computer when it was time for work...now I'm home, computer ON, and the joystick is now messed up again, same as before...no LED, erratic full force in a single direction, and NOT CONNECTED. Damn thing! What the hell is up...I really don't feel like sending my soundcard to Creative Labs for weeks just to have them send it back saying nothing's wrong. HELP!

: I built my own Arcade PC joystick (joystick and 6 buttons), by hacking a cheapo gamepad Pro Fighter 6 (came with Super Street Fighter 2), and the QuickShot 6 driver. It works GREAT! But, my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro joystick doesn't work anymore. I've tried ABSOLUTELY everything! The LED doesn't light up, and Win98 always says NOT CONNECTED. No matter what I do, reinstalling software, reinstalling hardware, even reinstalled win98 completely, tried altering soundcard resource settings, disabling/enabling drivers, reloading DirectX ...man, I've tried everything!!!! I've been to Microsoft tech support several times and they've offered suggestions but nothing helps. They say I'll need to replace my soundcard. WHAT?!?!?!? My soundcard (SB Live!) works PERFECT, and my arcade joystick I built works FINE, as does ANY other controller I use. I've tried the MS stick in a friend's computer and it works just fine. What the hell happened? Did I mess up my sound card with the arcade joystick I built? How could I? I could really use some help from some people that have more experience with this sort of thing. Has anyone ever messed up their computer with a homemade joystick? HELP! Thanks.
