I built my own Arcade PC joystick (joystick and 6 buttons), by hacking a cheapo gamepad Pro Fighter 6 (came with Super Street Fighter 2), and the QuickShot 6 driver. It works GREAT! But, my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro joystick doesn't work anymore. I've tried ABSOLUTELY everything! The LED doesn't light up, and Win98 always says NOT CONNECTED. No matter what I do, reinstalling software, reinstalling hardware, even reinstalled win98 completely, tried altering soundcard resource settings, disabling/enabling drivers, reloading DirectX ...man, I've tried everything!!!! I've been to Microsoft tech support several times and they've offered suggestions but nothing helps. They say I'll need to replace my soundcard. WHAT?!?!?!? My soundcard (SB Live!) works PERFECT, and my arcade joystick I built works FINE, as does ANY other controller I use. I've tried the MS stick in a friend's computer and it works just fine. What the hell happened? Did I mess up my sound card with the arcade joystick I built? How could I? I could really use some help from some people that have more experience with this sort of thing. Has anyone ever messed up their computer with a homemade joystick? HELP! Thanks.
