Monitor stopped working

I bought a second hand monitor a couple of months ago. It was working great but unfortunatly after turning it on the other mourning it went off a few seconds later. I now get a fizzing ticking sound coming from the back of it.

any ideas, is it fixable?

If the monitor is not fixable I will get another, but can someone just confirm that I have been using it correctly:

I always turn on the PC first, after Arcadeos as beeped 3 times, I turn on the Monitor.
I do NOT turn off the monitor in between loading games is this correct.
Is their anything else I may have done wrong.
